Position Summary

The Development Manager within the Advancement unit plays a pivotal role in designing and executing strategies to enhance the university’s fundraising capabilities. This position leads efforts that support annual and major giving, alumni relations, and donor stewardship, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and priorities. By managing outreach and engagement efforts, the Development Manager strengthens relationships with individuals, corporations, and philanthropic partners to increase donor support and long-term fundraising potential. Operating within the Development (Fundraising) job family, the Development Manager is responsible for leading a team of professionals and support staff focused on donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This includes setting performance goals, overseeing campaign initiatives, and ensuring effective coordination of fundraising activities. The manager ensures the team delivers high-quality donor experiences and effectively communicates the university’s mission and impact to secure sustained financial support. In collaboration with internal partners, the manager also helps to develop donor recognition strategies and targeted engagement plans. As a Level 2 Manager (M2), this position holds full accountability for the output and success of the team, providing strategic direction, daily oversight, and long-term planning. The Development Manager oversees performance evaluations, hiring recommendations, training, and professional development for staff. With a strong focus on implementing department-level strategies, the manager ensures that fundraising goals are met or exceeded, resources are used efficiently, and team members are empowered to contribute to a culture of philanthropy across the university.
