General Supervisor, Extension

Extension provides leadership in determining, implementing, and evaluating educational programs which are designed to solve social, economic, and environmental problems in agriculture and natural resources. The agent is an educator, an information provider, a needs assessor, a problem-solving resource for clientele, and networks with the agricultural industry, specialists, extension agents, and agency representatives.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.
G - General Administration

Position Summary

The General Supervisor for Extension is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of a team involved in the execution of agricultural extension programs. This position ensures that educational initiatives are implemented effectively to address social, economic, and environmental challenges in agriculture and natural resources. The supervisor coordinates the schedules and workflows of the team, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and in alignment with established goals. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for providing training, guidance, and support to employees, helping them develop their skills and achieve their objectives. As a leader in this role, the General Supervisor also plays a critical role in evaluating the performance of team members, providing constructive feedback, and making recommendations for hiring, promotion, or disciplinary actions as needed. They work closely with both their direct team and other departments to align efforts with the overall strategic goals of the extension programs. This position requires strong management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and manage resources effectively while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. The General Supervisor is key to ensuring that extension programs are executed efficiently, contributing to the growth and success of the community-focused educational initiatives.
