Position Summary

The General Manager for Plant and Environmental Sciences is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic direction of a team dedicated to advancing research and innovations in plant biology, soil science, ecology, and related fields. This role involves managing multiple teams working across various facilities, including farms, research labs, and field sites, with a focus on improving environmental practices and sustainable agricultural techniques. The General Manager ensures that operational goals are met, resources are allocated effectively, and productivity remains high while maintaining alignment with long-term research and environmental sustainability objectives. In addition to overseeing day-to-day activities, the General Manager plays a key role in setting goals, driving departmental strategies, and ensuring that the team adheres to safety standards and regulatory requirements. They are responsible for managing staff performance, including evaluations, training, and development, as well as recommending staffing decisions. By fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, the General Manager contributes to the success of programs that impact environmental protection, agricultural sustainability, and the advancement of cutting-edge research in plant and environmental sciences.
