Veterinary Sciences is responsible for day-to-day operations of a clinical veterinary teaching hospital. Responsible for activities within the clinical veterinary care unit including the delivery of veterinary care for animals. Supports teaching and excellent patient care. May participate in animal care including assisting in surgery and pre and post-operative care.

Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Veterinary Sciences is responsible for overseeing the technical operations of a clinical veterinary teaching hospital. This includes managing a team of technical staff, such as veterinary technicians, technologists, and support personnel, to ensure the efficient delivery of veterinary care and the smooth operation of specialized equipment and technologies. The Technical Manager ensures that all technical activities are conducted in alignment with the hospital’s standards for patient care, research, and teaching while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices. In this role, the Technical Manager provides leadership in resource management, including the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of advanced veterinary equipment used for diagnostics, surgery, and other clinical procedures. They are responsible for ensuring that technical staff are trained and proficient in the use of these tools and techniques, providing continuous education on new technologies, methodologies, and procedures in veterinary science. The Technical Manager also plays a key role in optimizing operational efficiency, coordinating schedules, and developing protocols that support both clinical and educational goals. The Technical Manager also works closely with faculty, clinicians, and students to support the educational mission of the veterinary program. They may assist in the training and mentoring of veterinary students and residents, ensuring they gain practical, hands-on experience in using technical equipment and performing clinical procedures. Through collaboration with other departments, the Technical Manager contributes to research initiatives and the development of new technologies that improve patient outcomes. With a focus on both patient care and operational efficiency, the Technical Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing the hospital's ability to deliver top-tier veterinary care while fostering a dynamic learning environment.
