Recreational Sports provides opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to engage in physical activities to create healthy lifestyle habits. Positions are typically involved with open recreation, fitness, aquatics, intramural sports, sport clubs, venture out, and youth programs.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.
G - General Administration

Position Summary

The General Supervisor for Recreational Sports is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the university's recreational sports programs, ensuring that activities such as fitness, intramurals, aquatics, sport clubs, and youth programs run smoothly and efficiently. This role involves supervising a team of experienced staff members, coordinating schedules, and managing workflows to meet departmental goals. The General Supervisor ensures that employees are properly trained and equipped to carry out their duties and provides guidance and support as needed to ensure high-quality service delivery to the campus community. In addition to managing staff, The General Supervisor works closely with other university departments to ensure the successful operation of recreational programs. This includes handling administrative duties such as conducting performance evaluations, recommending hiring and termination decisions, and addressing any disciplinary issues. The General Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a positive and productive team environment while ensuring that the recreational sports programs meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff. The role requires strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills to effectively manage resources and staff while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle on campus.
