Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Data Analytics provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of data-driven functions that support planning, assessment, and performance management across colleges and administrative units. Positioned within the Business Operations and Administration division, this role ensures the effective use of analytics to inform institutional strategy, guide decision-making, and support project execution. The manager leads efforts to design and implement data solutions that align with university goals and deliver actionable insights through statistical analysis, data modeling, and reporting. As part of the Technical/STEM job family, this role leads a team of analytics professionals responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to support a wide range of business operations and institutional priorities. The Technical Manager is accountable for setting team goals, managing workloads, and ensuring the quality and timeliness of all deliverables. The role involves translating high-level strategic questions into clear analytic objectives, as well as identifying opportunities to enhance data systems, processes, and tools. Collaboration with other departments, technology teams, and university leadership is essential to support the university’s data governance and analytics capabilities. At the M2 managerial level, the Technical Manager has full responsibility for the performance and output of the team, including hiring decisions, training and development, evaluations, and disciplinary actions. The manager ensures that the team operates effectively within its department, executes on strategic goals, and contributes to a data-informed culture throughout the institution. By fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, the Technical Manager plays a key role in advancing the university’s ability to make informed, strategic decisions backed by high-quality data and analysis.
