General Manager, Sponsored Agreement Management

Sponsored Agreement Management is responsible for grants, contracts, subcontracts, and other agreements between a sponsor and the university for the purpose of conducting research, instruction, training, and other activities at the university, or funding the compensation of university staff.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The General Manager for Sponsored Agreement Management is responsible for overseeing the administration of grants, contracts, subcontracts, and other sponsored agreements that support the university’s research, educational, and training activities. This role requires effective leadership to ensure that agreements are managed according to university policies, sponsor requirements, and legal regulations. The General Manager will be accountable for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of the Sponsored Agreement Management team, ensuring alignment with the university’s research goals and compliance standards. In addition to managing a team, the General Manager will take on a leadership role in coordinating the negotiation, execution, and monitoring of complex agreements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. This position involves setting team objectives, tracking performance, and ensuring that the resources and processes necessary for successful project outcomes are available. The General Manager also plays a critical role in implementing policies, training staff, and collaborating with senior leadership to set long-term goals for sponsored research, contributing to the overall success and growth of the university’s research enterprise.
