Academic Manager, International Affairs

International Affairs
International Affairs is responsible for serving the universitys international community, providing interpretation, and counseling to international students, employees and campus partners on visas and immigration laws, governmental regulations affecting immigration, social security, consular processing, and other statutory and regulatory rules to ensure compliance. May advise and provide counseling to students and others on matters pertaining to cross-cultural adjustment, academic, and financial concerns.

Position Summary

The Academic Manager within International Affairs provides leadership and operational oversight of services and programs supporting the university’s international community. This role plays a critical part in the university’s global engagement strategy by managing programs and advising services related to immigration compliance, visa and consular processes, cultural adjustment, academic success, and student support. Positioned within the Business Operations and Administration unit, the Academic Manager ensures that international student and scholar services are delivered effectively and in alignment with institutional goals and federal regulations. As part of the Academic Administration job family, this position leads a team of professionals who provide front-line support to international students, faculty, and staff. The Academic Manager is responsible for implementing strategic initiatives that enhance the experience and success of international community members, including orientation programming, advising services, and workshops on topics such as immigration law, academic policies, and cultural integration. The manager ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements while fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for diverse populations. Operating at the M2 managerial level, the Academic Manager has full accountability for the performance and output of their team, including hiring, performance management, training, and day-to-day supervision. The manager collaborates with university partners to ensure international programs are integrated into the broader academic and administrative landscape and contributes to the development of policies and procedures that support student success and institutional compliance. Through strategic planning, team leadership, and student-centered programming, this role advances the university’s commitment to internationalization and academic excellence.
