Operations
Operations is responsible for cross-functional management and administration of an organizations resources, including but not limited to finance, processes and operations, human capital, facilities, equipment, systems, and communication. Conducts the daily operations of an organizational or academic unit, which may include budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Business operations professionals gather and analyze data to construct key performance indicators to monitor and improve performance and reinforce strategic decision making.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

Position Summary

The Associate General Executive of Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for supporting the strategic execution and oversight of university-wide operational functions. This role is instrumental in managing a wide range of resources, including finance, human capital, facilities, equipment, systems, and communication, to ensure the university’s operations run efficiently and effectively. The Associate Executive will work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement operational strategies that align with the university’s overall goals and contribute to the achievement of long-term objectives. This role involves overseeing multiple disciplines and functions across various departments or units within the university. The Associate Executive is accountable for ensuring the successful execution of operational goals, disseminating those goals to direct reports, and ensuring they are operationalized effectively. This includes managing budgets, financial forecasting, and modeling, as well as providing guidance on the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve performance across the university. The Associate Executive of Operations will have direct oversight of multiple directors and managers, ensuring that their teams align with and support the university’s broader operational strategy. Additionally, the Associate Executive will be involved in recommending and potentially approving policies related to operational control within their areas of responsibility. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex, cross-functional operations. The Associate Executive will play a key role in refining processes and enhancing the operational effectiveness of the university, making data-driven decisions and ensuring that resources are used optimally to drive institutional success. With a university-wide scope of impact, the Associate Executive will contribute significantly to the ongoing development of the university and the operational excellence necessary to support its mission and growth.
