General Consultant, Community Engagement

Community Engagement works collaboratively with and through groups of people affiliated by geographic proximity, special interest, or similar situations to address issues affecting the well-being of those people in order to bring about environmental and behavioral changes that will improve the community and its members. It often involves partnerships and coalitions that help mobilize resources and influence systems, change relationships among partners, and serve as catalysts for changing policies, programs, and practices.

Position Summary

The General Consultant of Community Engagement is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for advising and supporting the strategic development and execution of community engagement initiatives. This role involves providing expertise and guidance on best practices, community partnership strategies, and engagement programs to enhance the university’s presence and impact in the local community. Working independently and with a high level of autonomy, the General Consultant will leverage their extensive experience to assist in the creation and execution of community-driven programs that align with the university's mission and long-term strategic goals. This role will also be responsible for advising on key community engagement opportunities, assessing their impact, and ensuring that they contribute to fostering positive relationships, social change, and community well-being. The consultant will collaborate with various university departments, community organizations, and external stakeholders to drive initiatives that mobilize resources, influence systemic change, and address pressing community needs. They will also play a pivotal role in enhancing existing community partnerships and identifying new opportunities for collaboration and engagement. As part of their responsibilities, the General Consultant will lead the design and implementation of community engagement strategies, analyzing data and feedback to measure the effectiveness of these initiatives. They will provide thought leadership in developing policies and practices that facilitate meaningful community involvement, while also mentoring and advising team members on best practices and strategies for engagement. In addition, this position will support the development of community outreach programs that leverage university resources to create positive social, environmental, and behavioral change. The consultant will have the autonomy to make strategic recommendations and decisions that impact the success and growth of community engagement efforts. The ideal candidate for this role will have an advanced level of expertise in community engagement, strategic partnerships, and organizational development. They must possess excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills, as well as the ability to influence key stakeholders and drive large-scale initiatives. This position requires a high degree of independence, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. This is an advanced, individual contributor role, best suited for someone with a proven record of success in community engagement, strategic alliances, and driving impactful social change initiatives.
