General Supervisor, Community Engagement

Community Engagement
Community Engagement works collaboratively with and through groups of people affiliated by geographic proximity, special interest, or similar situations to address issues affecting the well-being of those people in order to bring about environmental and behavioral changes that will improve the community and its members. It often involves partnerships and coalitions that help mobilize resources and influence systems, change relationships among partners, and serve as catalysts for changing policies, programs, and practices.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The General Supervisor of Community Engagement is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of community engagement initiatives, ensuring the effective coordination and execution of programs that promote collaboration and positive change within local communities. This position manages a team of administrative and professional staff, providing leadership and support to ensure that the team meets its goals and objectives. The supervisor will be accountable for managing workflows, setting priorities, and maintaining a focus on achieving successful outcomes in alignment with the university's strategic plan. This role also involves ensuring the training and orientation of new employees, overseeing the performance of staff through regular evaluations, and implementing professional development opportunities. The General Supervisor of Community Engagement will work to ensure efficient communication and collaboration between various stakeholders, both within the university and with external partners, fostering productive relationships that further the university’s mission in supporting community well-being. Additionally, the supervisor will contribute to the development of partnerships and coalitions that address community issues, such as promoting environmental and behavioral changes, and supporting systems that improve the quality of life for community members. The General Supervisor will also be responsible for allocating resources effectively, managing budgets, and ensuring that team members are equipped with the necessary tools and support to achieve their objectives. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. The supervisor will also play a key role in ensuring the sustainability and growth of community engagement initiatives, as well as in maintaining long-term partnerships with external organizations.
