Campus Planning defines the land use, urban design, open space, density, and circulation networks as a comprehensive and planned system. Develop planning and urban design guidelines, evaluate land use and siting decisions, establish parameters for campus development sites.

Position Summary

The Analyst within Campus Planning is responsible for supporting the university’s efforts to plan, evaluate, and optimize its physical spaces and resources. This position plays a key role in analyzing data and providing insights to help inform land use, urban design, and campus development decisions. The Analyst assists in the development and implementation of planning and urban design guidelines, ensuring that campus spaces are utilized effectively and aligned with the university’s strategic goals. Working under the guidance of senior staff, the Analyst performs research, data collection, and analysis related to campus planning, including evaluating land use and siting decisions. The role requires a keen understanding of campus development processes and a commitment to contributing to long-term, sustainable growth for Virginia Tech. The Analyst helps maintain documentation, track project progress, and prepare reports for leadership to support data-driven decision-making. As an individual contributor, the Analyst is expected to collaborate with other members of the campus planning team and may assist with coordinating efforts between various university departments and external partners. While not expected to act independently, the Analyst will be responsible for delivering accurate, well-researched analyses that support the overall mission of campus planning and development. This role requires an intermediate level of experience and education and is pivotal in ensuring that campus planning initiatives are executed in an efficient, effective, and sustainable manner.
