Senior Analyst, Campus Transportation

Campus Transportation is responsible for day-to-day operation and management of integrated campus transportation systems, services, and infrastructure. May manage, operate and maintain parking ramps, garages, surface parking, streets, sidewalks and plazas. Responsible for parking, transit, paratransit, bicycle, pedestrian and sustainable/alternative transportation programs.

Position Summary

The Senior Analyst for Campus Transportation at Virginia Tech plays a pivotal role in managing, analyzing, and optimizing the university’s transportation systems, services, and infrastructure. This includes supporting the day-to-day operations of campus parking, transit, paratransit, bicycle, pedestrian, and sustainable/alternative transportation programs. The Senior Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data related to transportation usage, trends, and infrastructure performance. This role involves preparing detailed reports and recommendations for improving transportation efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability, which align with the broader goals of Campus Operations. In addition to conducting data analysis and operational assessments, the Senior Analyst will work closely with other departments and external stakeholders to help implement and refine transportation policies and strategies. This may include collaborating on projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion, improving transit schedules, optimizing parking operations, or promoting environmentally-friendly transportation options. The Senior Analyst will also provide critical support for long-term transportation planning, using data-driven insights to anticipate future needs and inform key decision-making processes. The Senior Analyst must be highly proficient in transportation data systems, modeling, and reporting, ensuring that all analyses are accurate and actionable. This role requires the ability to identify trends and provide recommendations that will enhance the overall transportation experience for the university community. Additionally, the Senior Analyst may serve as a mentor to junior staff and may lead specific projects or initiatives related to campus transportation. With a strong understanding of both technical systems and operational goals, the Senior Analyst plays a key role in supporting the university’s mission to provide a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation network.
