Position Summary

The General Consultant for Photography and Illustration will play a key role in creating and advising on the visual content that supports the university's communications and marketing strategy. With an advanced level of experience in photography and illustration, this position will serve as an expert advisor, working closely with internal teams to conceptualize and produce high-quality visual content that aligns with the university's branding and organizational objectives. The consultant will provide creative direction and technical expertise in the creation of photography and illustration materials, ensuring consistency and clarity in the university's visual communications across various channels, including digital, print, and social media. In this individual contributor role, the consultant will collaborate with content development teams to produce imagery that engages and informs key audiences, including prospective and current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and media. The consultant will also mentor and guide junior photographers and illustrators, offering advice and best practices in visual storytelling. Through a deep understanding of design principles, visual trends, and brand guidelines, the consultant will provide insights that shape the creative direction for marketing initiatives, promotional materials, and other university-wide projects that require visual content. The position requires a high degree of autonomy, with the consultant expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring that all deliverables meet the university’s high standards for quality and brand consistency. This includes overseeing the entire lifecycle of photographic and illustrative content, from initial concept to final production. Additionally, the consultant will remain up-to-date with the latest trends and tools in photography and illustration, continuously bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the table, while also maintaining the integrity of the university’s visual identity.
