Faculty Development supports and manages academic processes, including activities and programs designed to improve instruction, and the overall learning experience for students. Faculty Development includes understanding student performance measurables both in and out of the classroom, leading to faculty and departments seeking ways to better inform their teaching practices.

Position Summary

The Academic Director within Faculty Development is responsible for leading and overseeing all initiatives related to faculty development, ensuring that programs and activities are designed to enhance instructional quality and support the ongoing professional growth of faculty members. This role plays a critical part in shaping faculty development programs that align with institutional goals, focusing on improving teaching practices based on insights from student performance data both in and out of the classroom. The Academic Director works closely with faculty and departments to identify areas for improvement, fostering a culture of continuous learning and teaching excellence. In this leadership position, the Academic Director has significant oversight of faculty development activities, including the planning, execution, and assessment of programs aimed at enhancing teaching effectiveness. The Director is responsible for the strategic direction of the unit, including managing the planning, staffing, budgeting, and implementation of faculty development initiatives. Additionally, the Academic Director works collaboratively with executive leadership to establish and align strategic goals across the university, ensuring that faculty development objectives support the broader mission of the institution. This position has a substantial impact on the academic community by guiding faculty professional growth, ensuring alignment with academic standards, and promoting the integration of best practices in teaching and learning. The Academic Director also provides leadership and mentorship to faculty development staff, ensuring a high level of operational efficiency and effectiveness in all faculty support and development initiatives.
