Faculty Support supports and manages academic processes, including strategies employed to provide faculty with knowledge, skills, abilities and infrastructure to effectively facilitate student success. This includes resources such as staff, training, budgetary resources, equipment, and software provided to faculty to support teaching, learning, research, and assessment.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The Academic Supervisor within Faculty Support is responsible for overseeing a team of administrative and technical staff who support faculty in their teaching, research, and student engagement activities. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring that faculty members have the resources, training, and infrastructure they need to facilitate student success. The supervisor is accountable for coordinating schedules and workflows for the team, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and on time. The Academic Supervisor provides guidance and support to staff, offering training and orientation to ensure that they are equipped to assist faculty effectively. The supervisor is responsible for monitoring the performance of team members, providing feedback, and making recommendations for hiring, promotions, or disciplinary actions as necessary. This role requires strong leadership skills to ensure the team’s goals align with the university’s broader objectives for faculty support and development. The supervisor also plays a key role in fostering a collaborative and positive working environment, ensuring that staff are well-supported and motivated to contribute to the academic success of faculty. Additionally, the supervisor works closely with leadership to ensure the alignment of resources and strategies, contributing to the overall enhancement of faculty support services across the institution.
