Faculty Support supports and manages academic processes, including strategies employed to provide faculty with knowledge, skills, abilities and infrastructure to effectively facilitate student success. This includes resources such as staff, training, budgetary resources, equipment, and software provided to faculty to support teaching, learning, research, and assessment.

Director: Directs and controls the activities of multiple university units or leads a team of professionals with significant university wide impact. Typically has indirect reports. In charge of overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, etc. for the unit. Collaborates with executive leadership on establishing strategic goals across the function.

Position Summary

The Academic Director of Faculty Support is responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, and delivery of support services aimed at enhancing faculty effectiveness and student success. This role involves managing a variety of resources including staff, training programs, equipment, and technology, ensuring that faculty have access to the necessary tools and support to excel in their teaching, research, and assessment activities. The Director works closely with academic leadership to identify faculty needs and priorities, and helps design and implement strategies to improve faculty performance, instructional quality, and overall academic excellence. Additionally, the Director is responsible for managing the budgeting process for faculty support services and ensuring the effective allocation of resources across academic departments. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations, the Academic Director of Faculty Support leads initiatives focused on the professional development of faculty. This includes organizing training and development programs that focus on improving teaching methods, integrating technology into the classroom, fostering student engagement, and enhancing research capabilities. The Director ensures that faculty are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their academic roles, and promotes a culture of continuous learning and improvement. The Director is also responsible for assessing the effectiveness of faculty support programs and making data-driven recommendations for improvements. As a senior leader in Faculty Administration, the Academic Director collaborates with university executives, department chairs, and faculty members to align faculty development initiatives with the university’s broader academic goals. The Director plays a critical role in fostering a supportive academic environment, where faculty can thrive professionally and contribute to the overall success of the institution. Through effective management of resources, strategic planning, and continuous faculty support, the Director helps ensure that faculty have the infrastructure and guidance needed to deliver high-quality instruction and advance the university’s mission of academic excellence and student success.
