Senior General Coordinator, Budgeting

Budgeting prepares, plans, compiles, and reviews the budgets for university departments, taking into consideration actual performance, previous expenditures, and estimated expenses and income. Prepares reports for the comparison between the current situation and budgeted forecast. Maintains accurate spending records and establishes measures for budgetary control. Analyzes budget requirements for specific projects or departments encompassing short-term or long-term time periods.

Position Summary

The Senior General Coordinator within Budgeting plays a key role in managing and supporting the university’s budgeting processes by providing expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and analysis. Operating within the Finance division, this position is responsible for compiling and reviewing department budgets, analyzing budget variances, and preparing detailed financial reports that compare actual performance to forecasted figures. The Senior Coordinator ensures that university resources are allocated efficiently and aligns budget strategies with institutional priorities by using historical data, expenditure trends, and estimated revenues to inform planning and decision-making. This role functions independently and often serves as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to departments and leadership on budgeting best practices, fiscal compliance, and cost control measures. The Senior General Coordinator is instrumental in maintaining accurate spending records, developing tools to monitor expenditures, and establishing controls to support financial integrity. In collaboration with finance and administrative staff, the coordinator contributes to both short- and long-term financial planning initiatives, ensuring that departments are equipped to manage their resources effectively. As an advanced individual contributor, the Senior Coordinator may lead special projects or cross-functional budgeting initiatives and influence the work of others through knowledge-sharing and mentorship. While not directly managing a team, this position has a broad impact across departments by improving budgeting processes and enhancing the university’s overall financial stewardship. By fostering strong partnerships and applying a strategic lens to financial operations, the Senior General Coordinator helps support the university’s mission of fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability.
