General Supervisor, Budgeting

Budgeting
Budgeting prepares, plans, compiles, and reviews the budgets for university departments, taking into consideration actual performance, previous expenditures, and estimated expenses and income. Prepares reports for the comparison between the current situation and budgeted forecast. Maintains accurate spending records and establishes measures for budgetary control. Analyzes budget requirements for specific projects or departments encompassing short-term or long-term time periods.

Position Summary

The General Supervisor within Budgeting is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the budgeting team. This role ensures that all aspects of budgeting and financial planning processes are carried out efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with the university’s financial goals. The Supervisor will manage a team of budgeting staff, providing direction, guidance, and support to ensure the effective completion of tasks related to budget preparation, analysis, and reporting. Key responsibilities include overseeing the planning, compilation, and review of budgets for various university departments, ensuring the budgets reflect accurate estimates of expenses, income, and previous expenditures. The Supervisor will monitor workflow, coordinate schedules, and ensure that team members meet deadlines for budget reports and analyses. This includes comparing actual financial performance to budgeted forecasts and preparing detailed reports for leadership. The role also involves establishing and maintaining budgetary controls, ensuring the accuracy of budget records, and providing training to team members on budgeting processes and tools. Additionally, the General Supervisor will facilitate the resolution of any budgeting-related issues and provide ongoing support for staff development, ensuring that all team members are fully equipped to perform their roles effectively. As a supervisor, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with a strong focus on team performance and development. The General Supervisor will also ensure compliance with university policies and financial regulations, contributing to the overall financial integrity and strategic objectives of the university’s budgeting function.
