Financial Planning and Analysis analyzes and forecasts financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions. Analyzes the financial implications of proposed investments or other transactions so that senior managers can evaluate alternatives against business objectives. Evaluates industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast short, medium, and long-term financial position. Data analyzed may include revenues, expenses, costs, prices, investments, cash flow, labor market trends, inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The General Supervisor within Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and activities of a team dedicated to analyzing and forecasting financial data for strategic and operational decision-making at the university. This role involves supervising experienced administrative, technical, and support staff, coordinating their schedules and workflow to ensure the timely and accurate completion of assignments. The General Supervisor is accountable for maintaining the smooth operation of the team, ensuring that all team members are effectively trained and oriented to their roles. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the role requires ensuring that financial data is analyzed appropriately, including evaluating market trends, industry conditions, and financial metrics. The General Supervisor works to ensure that the team produces accurate financial forecasts, evaluates investments, and analyzes the financial implications of various transactions. This position plays a key role in ensuring that financial information is delivered to senior management in a timely manner to assist in decision-making, all while providing leadership, feedback, and mentorship to team members to enhance their performance and development. The supervisor ensures that the team remains aligned with the university’s financial goals and objectives.
