Training and Development develops and conducts training related to employee development. Evaluates organizational training needs and effectiveness. Serves as liaison with outside training vendors. May prepare training materials, visual aids, and lesson plans.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The General Supervisor within Training and Development is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and implementation of employee development programs across the university. This role ensures that training initiatives align with organizational goals and meet the evolving needs of employees. The Supervisor manages day-to-day operations of the training team, including assigning work, tracking progress, and coordinating schedules. In addition, the Supervisor ensures all training materials, lesson plans, and visual aids are effectively developed and delivered to maximize learning outcomes. In collaboration with Human Resources and departmental leadership, the Supervisor assesses current and future training needs, evaluates program effectiveness, and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement. This role also serves as the primary liaison with external training vendors and partners, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective learning experiences. By leveraging data and feedback, the Supervisor helps shape a learning environment that fosters professional growth, employee engagement, and institutional effectiveness. The Supervisor is accountable for onboarding and orienting new employees, as well as mentoring and supporting the professional development of training team members. With responsibility for performance evaluations, goal setting, and resource planning, the Supervisor ensures operational efficiency and consistency in the delivery of training services. Through their leadership, this position contributes to a culture of continuous learning and supports the university's mission of excellence in workforce development.
