Position Summary

The Academic Consultant within Inclusion and Diversity plays a crucial role in advising and guiding academic departments and university leadership on best practices for fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse learning environment. The consultant provides strategic recommendations and develops tailored solutions to integrate diversity and inclusion into the university's academic frameworks. They are responsible for shaping and advising on policies, programs, and initiatives that align with the university’s mission to create a supportive and inclusive academic experience for all members of the university community. In this role, the Academic Consultant works independently and uses their expertise to assess current academic policies and practices, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting actionable strategies. They collaborate closely with academic leaders, faculty, and staff to develop and implement training, workshops, and other professional development opportunities aimed at promoting inclusivity and diversity in classrooms, curricula, and academic services. Their guidance helps ensure that inclusion and diversity are embedded into the academic culture, contributing to the university's broader goals of equity and social justice in education. As an advanced individual contributor, the Academic Consultant leverages their extensive knowledge and experience to lead projects that drive change across the university. They serve as a subject matter expert, offering mentorship and coaching to academic teams and advising on the creation of academic resources and programs that reflect inclusive values. The consultant also conducts research, evaluates program outcomes, and reports on the success of diversity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement. Through their leadership, they facilitate an academic environment where all students, faculty, and staff can thrive, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging meaningful contributions to the university’s mission.
