Director: Directs and controls the activities of multiple university units or leads a team of professionals with significant university wide impact. Typically has indirect reports. In charge of overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, etc. for the unit. Collaborates with executive leadership on establishing strategic goals across the function.

Position Summary

The Academic Director within Inclusion and Diversity leads university-wide efforts to cultivate an equitable and inclusive academic environment that supports student success and aligns with institutional values. This role oversees the development and implementation of strategic DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) initiatives across academic departments, ensuring that all members of the university community are empowered to thrive. The Director collaborates with faculty, students, and administrators to assess needs, establish inclusive programming, and foster a learning environment rooted in fairness and mutual respect. In this capacity, the Director provides leadership and administrative oversight for staff and programs focused on academic inclusion. This includes setting long-term goals, managing budgets, evaluating program effectiveness, and mentoring team members who contribute to DEIB-focused education, training, and outreach. The Director also plays a central role in promoting inclusive pedagogical practices, expanding support for underrepresented student populations, and integrating DEIB principles into curriculum development and academic policies. Working closely with executive leadership, the Academic Director contributes to the university’s strategic planning efforts by establishing and advocating for inclusive academic policies and measurable outcomes. The position requires a deep understanding of intersectional identities, institutional systems, and effective leadership practices. By driving inclusive excellence across the academic enterprise, the Director ensures that diversity and belonging remain core components of the university's mission and student experience.
