Development and Operations is responsible for the combined practices of software development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops), managing the systems development life cycles, and providing continuous delivery of high-quality software applications.

They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Development and Operations oversees a team of professionals responsible for ensuring the successful integration of software development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops) practices. This role is crucial in coordinating the efforts of cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software applications while maintaining seamless operations. The Technical Manager will focus on managing the systems development life cycle, driving continuous improvement in operational processes, and ensuring the alignment of development and operations strategies with overall organizational goals. In this leadership role, the Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of their team, ensuring effective resource allocation, setting priorities, and providing guidance on complex technical challenges. They will play a central role in fostering collaboration between development and operations teams, ensuring that both sides of the process are working in unison to meet business objectives. Additionally, the Technical Manager will drive the implementation of best practices and innovative solutions to enhance system performance, security, and scalability while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Technical Manager will also take an active role in mentoring team members, fostering their professional growth, and providing feedback on performance. They will handle key administrative duties, such as conducting performance evaluations, managing staffing needs, and supporting team members in achieving both short-term and long-term goals. By managing team output, setting strategic objectives, and holding team members accountable, the Technical Manager will contribute significantly to the success of development and operations initiatives, helping the organization stay ahead of technological trends and maintain high standards of service delivery.
