Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Business Intelligence plays a key leadership role in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of data-driven strategies that support informed decision-making across the university. Positioned within the Information Technology and Data Management functions, this role is responsible for directing a team of business intelligence professionals who collect, aggregate, analyze, and report on key institutional data. The manager ensures that business intelligence solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with both operational needs and long-term strategic objectives. This position provides direct oversight of team workflows and is accountable for the delivery of high-quality analytics, dashboards, and data visualizations that inform stakeholders across departments. The manager leads efforts to evaluate and adopt modern BI tools and platforms, streamline data governance practices, and ensure the integrity and usability of data assets. Collaborating closely with data stewards, IT staff, and campus leadership, the manager translates complex data into actionable insights, supporting key initiatives related to student success, academic planning, financial forecasting, and institutional effectiveness. As a technical leader, the Technical Manager is responsible for staff development, performance evaluation, and fostering a collaborative environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement. This role requires a balance of technical expertise and strategic oversight, ensuring that BI initiatives are effectively resourced and that the team is equipped to meet evolving data needs. By aligning business intelligence strategies with broader institutional goals, the manager plays a crucial role in promoting data-informed culture and operational excellence across the university.
