Position Summary

The Technical Supervisor within IT Security Access oversees the team responsible for the planning, evaluation, design, and development of identity and access management systems within the university. This role ensures the implementation and optimization of access control systems, working with both hardware and software to safeguard institutional resources. The supervisor manages the day-to-day operations of the team, focusing on system design, user authentication processes, and risk management to ensure secure access for all users across the institution’s network. In addition to managing workflows, the Technical Supervisor is accountable for coordinating the security team’s activities, ensuring that resources are effectively utilized, and tasks are completed on time. They provide leadership and guidance to team members, helping with complex technical problems, system upgrades, and security audits. The supervisor ensures that team members are trained in best practices for identity and access management, and they ensure compliance with university policies and industry standards. The Technical Supervisor plays a critical role in fostering collaboration between the security access team and other IT departments. They assess security threats, manage user access requests, and implement robust identity management systems, all while balancing the need for both security and user accessibility. Their leadership helps to maintain a secure and efficient environment, ensuring that all systems are designed to prevent unauthorized access and maintain high standards of confidentiality and integrity in data handling.
