Position Summary

The Technical Director within IT Security Access is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, design, and implementation of the university's identity and access management (IAM) systems. This role involves managing the development and operationalization of security policies and protocols that ensure access to critical systems and data is secure, efficient, and in line with university-wide security and compliance standards. The director leads the team responsible for evaluating, designing, and refining IAM solutions, ensuring that the university’s IT security infrastructure is resilient and future-proof while aligning with organizational objectives. In this leadership role, the Technical Director manages cross-functional teams and provides oversight for the planning, staffing, and budgeting processes related to IT security access initiatives. They collaborate with senior management and executive leadership to develop and execute strategic security goals that support the overall mission and vision of the university. The director is accountable for maintaining the effectiveness of the university’s IAM systems and for driving innovation and efficiency in the development of new security access solutions. They serve as the primary point of contact for escalated issues and provide expert advice to both technical teams and university leadership. The Technical Director ensures that security risks related to access management are effectively mitigated through regular audits, risk assessments, and the ongoing review of emerging technologies. They are also responsible for the ongoing development and professional growth of their team, providing mentorship and direction while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. In addition, the director stays informed on the latest trends and best practices in IT security access to ensure that the university remains compliant with industry standards and best practices. Their leadership ensures the security and integrity of all university IT systems and access points, enabling secure access while minimizing potential vulnerabilities.
