Executive

These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

Position Summary

The Associate Technical Executive within IT Security is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of the university's IT security initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information systems across the institution. The Associate Executive will oversee the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and strategies, ensuring alignment with the university’s overall IT security goals. This position collaborates with senior leadership to establish and operationalize comprehensive security frameworks that protect both hardware and software infrastructures from cyber threats and vulnerabilities. In this leadership capacity, the Associate Technical Executive supervises a team of IT security professionals, including directors and managers, to drive security initiatives across the university. They are accountable for setting goals and objectives within the IT security function, ensuring that these are effectively communicated, understood, and executed at all levels. The role also involves evaluating and recommending emerging security technologies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring that security operations are continuously enhanced to address evolving threats. The Associate Executive is also responsible for ensuring the integrity and efficiency of access management systems and the secure handling of sensitive data across all IT platforms. The Associate Technical Executive within IT Security provides high-level oversight on the implementation of security policies, including access and identity controls, risk management strategies, and incident response protocols. This executive role directly influences the university’s security posture, advising senior leadership on security risks, solutions, and compliance requirements. Additionally, the position involves ensuring that IT security practices and policies align with industry standards and regulatory requirements, with a focus on operational excellence, risk mitigation, and maintaining a secure IT environment university-wide.
