Position Summary

The Senior IT Security Analyst plays a critical role in protecting the university's information systems by proactively managing and enhancing the institution's cybersecurity infrastructure. With advanced expertise in IT security, the analyst is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of security systems to safeguard sensitive data and networks. They assess and mitigate security risks, perform vulnerability assessments, and lead incident response activities to ensure the institution's IT environment remains secure and compliant with security policies and standards. This senior-level position involves a blend of technical expertise and leadership. The Senior IT Security Analyst will guide and mentor junior staff while collaborating with other IT teams to implement security measures that align with the organization’s risk management strategy. They will oversee advanced security monitoring, vulnerability management, and analysis of security incidents, while ensuring all security controls are working as intended. The role also includes providing detailed reports on security risks and incidents, along with recommendations for improvements to security posture, policy, and procedures. They will also evaluate emerging security technologies and contribute to the development of long-term IT security strategies. In addition to their technical responsibilities, the Senior IT Security Analyst serves as a subject matter expert, providing strategic insights to senior leadership regarding potential cybersecurity threats and trends. They play a crucial role in enforcing security governance, managing compliance requirements, and ensuring that security protocols are up to date and in line with industry best practices. This position also involves driving continuous improvement initiatives within the IT security team, identifying areas for operational efficiency, and supporting the development of incident response plans to address any potential security breaches effectively.
