Position Summary

The Technical Director within IT Service Management is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and shaping the university’s IT service management strategy. This role involves directing the activities of multiple units within IT Service Management, ensuring the successful design, delivery, and continuous improvement of IT services across the institution. The Technical Director will play a key role in aligning IT service offerings with university goals, ensuring seamless service delivery, and leading large-scale initiatives that impact the university's overall IT landscape. In this capacity, the Technical Director is accountable for the comprehensive planning, budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation for the IT Service Management function. They will lead the development and execution of strategies to optimize IT services, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure that all services are delivered with the highest level of performance and reliability. Additionally, the Technical Director will work closely with other IT leaders and university executives to identify emerging technologies, assess service requirements, and establish long-term goals that support the evolving needs of the university. As a director, this position provides leadership to a large, cross-functional team, typically overseeing managers and senior professionals, with indirect responsibility for a wider team of support staff. The Technical Director will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance across all units within IT Service Management, ensuring that the team is equipped to address both current and future IT challenges. The role also involves driving change management initiatives, guiding the transition to new technologies, and ensuring the service management function remains responsive to the needs of the university community.
