Classroom Support provides technical classroom support to faculty, staff, students, and university stakeholders for a range of hardware and software related information technology systems.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The Technical Supervisor within Classroom Support oversees daily operations related to the delivery of classroom technology services, ensuring timely and effective technical support for faculty, staff, and students across the university. This role is responsible for supervising a team that supports a wide range of hardware, software, and integrated AV systems used in classrooms, lecture halls, and instructional spaces. The supervisor ensures that classroom technologies are functional, up-to-date, and responsive to instructional needs, playing a critical role in enabling technology-enhanced learning experiences. Working within the broader IT Support framework, the Technical Supervisor coordinates workflows, schedules, and incident response activities to ensure high-quality service delivery. The role monitors classroom technology performance, resolves complex technical issues, and implements preventative maintenance programs to minimize disruptions. Additionally, the supervisor collaborates with academic departments and IT teams to support technology upgrades, participate in classroom design planning, and assist with the rollout of new instructional tools and systems. At the M1 level, the Technical Supervisor provides direct oversight of support staff, including onboarding, training, and performance management. This position is accountable for team productivity, customer service standards, and the successful completion of daily assignments. The supervisor also ensures compliance with university policies and IT best practices while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented environment. Through effective supervision, technical knowledge, and a focus on continuous improvement, the Technical Supervisor ensures that classroom technology support services meet the evolving needs of the university community.
