They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Director: Directs and controls the activities of multiple university units or leads a team of professionals with significant university wide impact. Typically has indirect reports. In charge of overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, etc. for the unit. Collaborates with executive leadership on establishing strategic goals across the function.

Position Summary

The Technical Director within Classroom Support is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational management of all classroom technology support services across the university. This position ensures that classroom technologies, including hardware, software, audio-visual systems, and interactive tools, are effectively deployed, maintained, and optimized to support the university's educational objectives. The Technical Director will lead the design and implementation of innovative classroom technology solutions that enhance teaching and learning experiences while aligning with the university’s broader IT strategy. In this capacity, the Technical Director will provide leadership across multiple teams, ensuring seamless coordination between classroom support, IT support, and other departments. This role is accountable for setting long-term goals, budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation to meet the evolving needs of the university community. The Technical Director will also oversee the development and execution of training programs for both staff and faculty, ensuring that all stakeholders are equipped to use classroom technologies effectively and efficiently. They will ensure that technical issues are resolved swiftly, minimize downtime, and guarantee that classroom environments remain conducive to learning. As a key decision-maker in the university’s IT strategy, the Technical Director will collaborate with executive leadership to establish and implement the vision for classroom technology support. This position requires extensive expertise in IT service management, project management, and team leadership. The Technical Director will also lead the development of policies and procedures related to classroom technology, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Additionally, they will continuously evaluate emerging technologies to ensure that the university remains at the forefront of technological innovation in education.
