Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Network Engineering is responsible for leading a team of network engineers and technicians to design, implement, and maintain the university’s network infrastructure. This position focuses on ensuring the team’s efforts align with the strategic goals of the institution, overseeing the development and integration of network systems, and managing the day-to-day operations of the network engineering team. The Technical Manager plays a critical role in guiding the team through complex technical challenges, optimizing network performance, and ensuring the security and scalability of network components, such as switches, routers, firewalls, and cloud integration. As a manager, this role involves overseeing the professional development of team members, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring that the team is adequately trained and resourced to meet operational demands. The Technical Manager is responsible for setting goals and performance expectations, coordinating team schedules and workflows, and managing resources to support network projects and improvements. This includes fostering collaboration across departments and working with senior leadership to ensure that network engineering initiatives are aligned with the broader technology strategy of the university. The Technical Manager within Network Engineering also plays a key role in developing and executing strategies for network architecture and infrastructure improvements. They are responsible for evaluating new technologies, recommending solutions for network optimization, and ensuring the integration of emerging tools and platforms into the existing network infrastructure. The manager acts as a liaison between the network engineering team and other IT departments, ensuring that network systems support the university’s objectives for data security, communication, and service delivery. This leadership position requires a strong technical background, excellent management skills, and the ability to drive the successful execution of network engineering projects.
