Network and Telecommunication Services is responsible for the daily administration and management of network and telecommunications components, including network switches, routers, firewalls, proxies, operating systems, infrastructure applications, appliances, and cloud integration. Manages voice, data, and video communication systems throughout the university, analyzing and resolving issues with communication programs.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

Position Summary

The Associate Technical Executive within Network and Telecommunication Services is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and daily operations of the university’s network and telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves managing a broad range of technologies, including network switches, routers, firewalls, proxies, and cloud integration systems. The Associate Executive ensures that the university's communication systems—encompassing voice, data, and video services—are operating efficiently, securely, and effectively. They are accountable for ensuring that network and telecommunication services meet the needs of the institution, providing both technical oversight and strategic guidance. In this leadership role, the Associate Technical Executive works with multiple teams and managers within the Network and Telecommunication Services function to ensure the seamless administration and management of the university’s communications infrastructure. This position is responsible for setting and executing operational goals and objectives related to network and telecommunication services, ensuring that these goals align with the broader mission of the institution. They lead teams in resolving complex technical issues, optimizing performance, and implementing innovative solutions that improve the university’s connectivity and communication systems. As part of the executive team, the Associate Technical Executive collaborates with senior leadership to establish policies, drive initiatives, and contribute to long-term strategic plans that support the university’s technological needs. They are accountable for resource allocation, guiding decisions that impact the entire network and telecommunications infrastructure across the university. This role requires a deep understanding of both the technical and operational aspects of network and telecommunication systems, with a focus on enhancing performance, security, and overall user experience for all university stakeholders.
