Web Development and Design conceptualizes, designs, creates, and modifies content and functionality of websites for faculty and staff, students, and external communications purposes. Utilizes server-side, client-side, and database tools. Creates websites from concept to finished product. Optimizes performance, security, and scalability.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The Technical Supervisor within Web Development and Design oversees a team of web developers and designers, ensuring the effective execution of web development projects that serve the needs of faculty, staff, students, and external audiences. This role is responsible for coordinating the daily tasks of the team, ensuring that web projects are completed on time, meet organizational standards, and align with strategic goals. The supervisor monitors team performance, addresses issues that arise during the development lifecycle, and provides support to ensure the successful implementation of web solutions that are secure, scalable, and optimized for performance. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations, the Technical Supervisor is responsible for fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment. They ensure that team members have the necessary resources, training, and guidance to execute their tasks effectively. The supervisor plays a key role in mentoring junior developers, providing constructive feedback, and supporting the professional development of team members. They also contribute to the planning and execution of larger web development initiatives, working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, assess feasibility, and define project timelines. The Technical Supervisor is also tasked with overseeing quality control for web projects, ensuring that all deliverables meet established standards for usability, functionality, and design. They are involved in troubleshooting technical challenges, providing solutions to complex issues, and ensuring the web development team adheres to best practices for coding, security, and performance optimization. The supervisor will track the team's progress on projects, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively, and that projects are completed within the designated scope and deadlines. Through their leadership, the supervisor ensures that the web development team delivers high-quality results that support the university’s mission and objectives.
