Web Development and Design conceptualizes, designs, creates, and modifies content and functionality of websites for faculty and staff, students, and external communications purposes. Utilizes server-side, client-side, and database tools. Creates websites from concept to finished product. Optimizes performance, security, and scalability.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The Technical Manager for Web Development and Design leads the planning, development, and implementation of web-based solutions that support the university’s digital presence and strategic communication goals. This position oversees the technical execution of websites and applications, ensuring alignment with institutional branding, accessibility standards, and performance expectations. The manager is responsible for directing both server-side and client-side development activities, as well as coordinating design efforts that enhance user experience and engagement. In this role, the manager supervises a team of developers, designers, and technical staff, guiding them in the creation, testing, and maintenance of responsive, secure, and scalable web solutions. The position is responsible for resource allocation, project prioritization, and timelines, ensuring deliverables are met with high quality and efficiency. Working closely with stakeholders across academic and administrative units, the manager translates business needs into functional web systems, promoting usability, performance optimization, and ongoing improvement. The manager also plays a key role in implementing and maintaining governance practices around web standards, design systems, and content strategy. They ensure integration with other institutional systems, uphold data privacy and security standards, and stay abreast of evolving web technologies to recommend enhancements. By fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence, the Technical Manager supports the university’s mission of delivering dynamic and user-centered digital experiences to its diverse audiences.
