Senior General Coordinator, Patent

Patent and Licensing regulates, promotes and protects the use of the universitys name and identifying marks, both on and off campus. Protects and licenses the university name and identifying marks on commercial products and services, university promotions, sponsorships, affinity programs, etc. Also includes those positions which advise on, promote, and protect the patents and licenses of university community members.

Position Summary

The Senior General Coordinator within Patent and Licensing plays a vital role in managing and protecting the intellectual property assets of the university. This position involves overseeing the university's patent portfolio, advising on intellectual property rights, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to patents and licensing. The Senior General Coordinator also works closely with faculty, researchers, and external stakeholders to facilitate the licensing of innovations, technologies, and products developed within the university. This includes managing agreements and negotiations, promoting the commercial use of university inventions, and ensuring all licensing arrangements are consistent with the institution's goals. In addition to intellectual property management, the Senior General Coordinator plays a key role in the university's efforts to protect and regulate its name, identifying marks, and trademarks. This responsibility includes monitoring and enforcing the use of the university's trademarks, ensuring that any commercial product or service using these marks adheres to university standards and agreements. The Senior General Coordinator provides guidance on sponsorships, affinity programs, and promotions involving the university's name, and ensures that all associated contracts and arrangements are legally sound and align with university policies. As a senior-level individual contributor, the Senior General Coordinator is expected to act independently, manage complex patent and licensing matters, and offer leadership to less experienced staff. They coordinate various aspects of the patent and licensing process, influence decision-making within the team, and provide expert advice on intellectual property strategies. The Senior General Coordinator also plays a key role in maintaining a culture of compliance and legal integrity, contributing to the overall protection and growth of the university’s intellectual property assets.
