Associate General Executive, Civil Rights

Civil Rights and Accessibility provides consultation to faculty, staff, and students on matters relating to the universitys policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment. Responsible for determining reasonable accommodations in university programs and coordinating accommodations services like note taking, alternate text requests, and furniture coordination.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

Position Summary

The Associate General Executive within Civil Rights and Accessibility plays a critical role in overseeing the development and implementation of strategic initiatives designed to ensure the university’s commitment to Civil Rights, accessibility, and compliance with legal requirements. This position provides high-level leadership and operational oversight in the coordination of accessibility services and supports the execution of university policies that prohibit discrimination and harassment. The Executive is responsible for ensuring that all programs, services, and facilities within the university are accessible and equitable, leading the development of both short- and long-term objectives to support a diverse and inclusive academic environment. In this executive role, the Associate General Executive works closely with senior leadership across the university to establish strategic goals, policies, and initiatives. This includes leading a team of directors and managers who directly influence the operational and functional aspects of accessibility programs. The role involves monitoring the university's compliance with federal and state regulations related to accessibility and discrimination, while also fostering a culture of inclusivity that is aligned with the university's mission. The Executive is responsible for integrating accessibility considerations into academic, administrative, and physical infrastructure, ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff have equal access to opportunities and resources. As a key decision-maker within the university’s Civil Rights and Accessibility function, the Associate General Executive plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction of policies and practices across the institution. With significant accountability for the annual execution of goals, the Executive oversees the operationalization of strategies and ensures that all accessibility services are aligned with institutional objectives. The position requires a broad scope of leadership, including overseeing the work of multiple teams, shaping cross-functional initiatives, and making decisions that have a university-wide impact on promoting fairness, Civil Rights, and access for all members of the university community.
