Equity and Accessibility provides consultation to faculty, staff, and students on matters relating to the universitys policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment. Responsible for determining reasonable accommodations in university programs and coordinating accommodations services like note taking, alternate text requests, and furniture coordination.

Position Summary

The Associate Academic Coordinator within Equity and Accessibility is responsible for assisting in the implementation and coordination of accommodations for students, faculty, and staff in compliance with the university’s policies on discrimination, harassment, and accessibility. The role involves supporting the identification of reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities, ensuring that academic programs, courses, and services are accessible. Key tasks include facilitating accommodations such as note-taking, alternate text requests, and providing specialized equipment or furniture to ensure equitable access. This position works closely with faculty, staff, and students to provide guidance on the university’s equity and accessibility policies. The Associate Academic Coordinator helps with the development and modification of course materials and academic content to ensure accessibility, promoting an inclusive environment for all university members. Additionally, this role involves maintaining documentation and records related to accommodations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and institutional standards, and serving as a resource for both students and faculty on accessibility matters. As an individual contributor, the Associate Academic Coordinator works as part of a team within the Equity and Accessibility department to promote awareness and inclusion throughout the university. The role may involve supporting initiatives such as training sessions, workshops, and outreach programs to educate the campus community about accessibility and equity policies. While not requiring significant independent decision-making, the position plays a vital role in assisting with the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring the university fosters a culture of equal access and opportunity.
