Legal and Compliance provides advisory services including advice on matters concerning the rights, obligations, and privileges of the organization. Represents the organization to government agencies, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Ensures the organization fosters a culture of compliance and integrity.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 2
Executive: Has senior-level leadership responsibilities for major unit operations. Establishes and implements policies, procedures, programs, fiscal authority, and operational autonomy. Leads department heads, chairs, school directors, directors, senior managers, and managers. Scope of responsibility is university wide for an overall college or business unit.

Position Summary

The General Executive within Legal and Compliance plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing and driving the strategic direction of the university’s legal and compliance operations. This position holds senior-level leadership responsibility for managing and directing all aspects of the legal and compliance function across the institution. The General Executive works to ensure the university adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability. They collaborate with various departments, senior management, and external stakeholders to provide proactive legal guidance, mitigate risks, and uphold the university’s reputation and compliance standing. In this role, the General Executive has broad authority over the planning, implementation, and oversight of policies and procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements across the university. They lead a team of department heads, senior managers, and other key personnel, setting strategic goals and ensuring alignment with the university’s overarching mission and objectives. The General Executive is responsible for managing legal resources, ensuring the university remains compliant with applicable laws, and addressing any legal challenges the institution may face. Their leadership influences high-level decision-making and the continuous improvement of compliance programs across the university. The General Executive within Legal and Compliance also plays a pivotal role in guiding senior leadership on legal matters and compliance strategies, ensuring that all activities are consistent with university policies and regulatory obligations. With a university-wide scope of responsibility, this position has significant impact on the development and success of various university operations, including risk management, governance, and the institutional culture. The General Executive is expected to drive continuous improvements in legal and compliance programs, ensuring the university remains compliant while supporting its mission and strategic goals. This position requires substantial experience in legal and compliance leadership, coupled with a strong understanding of higher education law and governance.
