Position Summary

The Senior General Coordinator within Archives plays a key role in overseeing the management and preservation of both physical and digital archival materials, applying a combination of archival theory and hands-on practice. This position is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the archives, ensuring that records are properly assessed, described, and stored according to professional standards. The Senior General Coordinator leads efforts to maintain, preserve, and organize the archival collections, while also implementing policies and best practices for the management and accessibility of materials, which include permanent records and historically significant documents. In this senior role, the individual will take on a more independent function, contributing expertise in archival processes and policies. The Senior General Coordinator is expected to provide leadership on complex projects, such as the digitization of materials, and assess the need for additional resources or improvements to archival systems. The position may involve working closely with other departments and library services to support research, teaching, and public access to archival collections. The Senior General Coordinator also plays a critical role in training and mentoring junior staff, ensuring that team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain the archives effectively. This role requires advanced knowledge in archival management and preservation, as well as strong problem-solving and leadership abilities. The Senior General Coordinator is responsible for independently implementing strategies for maintaining the archival collections while ensuring compliance with policies that govern access and stewardship. In addition, the role includes making recommendations for improvements and ensuring that all processes align with the broader goals of the library services and the institution’s mission. The Senior General Coordinator may also act as a liaison for external stakeholders seeking access to archival materials, demonstrating the ability to balance preservation with public access needs.
