Library Services develops and manages access, organization, and acquisition of library collections and specialized information systems to enhance academic teaching, learning, and research.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

Position Summary

The Associate General Executive within Library Services plays a pivotal role in the strategic leadership and operational management of library resources across the university. This position holds responsibility for ensuring that the library's mission, objectives, and services are aligned with the broader academic goals of the institution. The role involves overseeing the development, access, organization, and acquisition of library collections and specialized information systems that support teaching, learning, and research. The Associate Executive collaborates with senior leadership to establish strategic priorities and ensures that the library effectively meets the needs of faculty, students, and researchers. With direct accountability for the execution of goals and objectives, the Associate Executive is responsible for the oversight of multiple directors and managers within the library services function. This includes ensuring that library operations run efficiently, that the staff is equipped with the resources and training they need to succeed, and that performance targets are met. The Associate Executive also plays a key role in recommending and approving policies related to library services, helping to guide decision-making processes that influence both day-to-day operations and long-term planning. They ensure that library services are responsive to changing academic requirements and technological advancements. In addition to their operational responsibilities, the Associate General Executive participates in high-level strategic panels and teams, making decisions that have a significant impact on the university as a whole. By overseeing the execution of university-wide initiatives and projects, the Associate Executive helps shape the future direction of library services and ensures that the department contributes to the overall success and development of the university. The position requires a strong blend of leadership, strategic thinking, and expertise in library management, as well as the ability to effectively manage and inspire a diverse team across multiple functions.
