They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The Technical Supervisor within Library Services provides direct oversight and coordination of technical staff responsible for supporting the library’s digital infrastructure, specialized information systems, and technology-based services. This role ensures that systems and tools used to organize, access, and acquire library collections are maintained and optimized to support the university’s teaching, learning, and research objectives. The Supervisor plays a key role in managing the technical implementation of library initiatives, including system upgrades, troubleshooting, and integration of new technologies that enhance user access to digital and physical resources. As a first-line manager, the Technical Supervisor is accountable for guiding a team of experienced technical staff in the day-to-day execution of tasks and projects. This includes setting work schedules, distributing assignments, overseeing workflows, and monitoring progress to ensure high-quality and timely outcomes. The Supervisor is responsible for onboarding and training new employees, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting staff development. They contribute to hiring decisions and may recommend disciplinary actions as needed, ensuring team effectiveness and alignment with departmental goals. The Supervisor works closely with library leadership, faculty, and IT partners to ensure the technical aspects of library services meet institutional needs and comply with best practices. They support the implementation of new technologies and system enhancements that contribute to the continuous improvement of library operations. By managing the operational aspects of technical services, the Supervisor plays an essential role in maintaining a responsive and innovative library environment that supports the evolving needs of the academic community.
