Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Library Services leads a team of professionals responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the technical infrastructure that supports library systems and digital services. This position ensures that library technologies—including integrated library systems, digital repositories, discovery tools, and data services—are robust, reliable, and aligned with the academic mission of the university. The manager works closely with library leadership and university partners to advance technical strategies that enhance access to and management of library collections, supporting teaching, learning, and research initiatives. As a mid-level manager, this position holds full responsibility for the performance and output of a technical team, guiding day-to-day operations while executing strategic priorities within the department. The Technical Manager sets team goals, oversees workflows, and ensures that technical projects are delivered on time and within scope. They provide administrative oversight of staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. The manager also identifies opportunities for professional development and promotes a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. In this role, the Technical Manager acts as a bridge between technical operations and broader library goals, ensuring that technical solutions are scalable, secure, and responsive to the needs of users and stakeholders. They are actively involved in strategic planning and may contribute to budgeting and resource planning for technology-related initiatives. Through their leadership, the manager helps ensure that Library Services remains technologically forward-thinking and responsive in an evolving academic and information environment.
