Program Management is responsible for the oversight of the planning, execution, and success of the program. Typical duties include program planning and development, program evaluation, policy development and analysis, and coordination of resources.

They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The Technical Supervisor within Program Management is responsible for overseeing the execution of various technical aspects of projects and programs in alignment with the university's strategic initiatives. This role involves actively participating in the planning, development, and closure of technical projects, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. The supervisor also evaluates program outcomes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and ensures that resources, both human and technological, are effectively allocated to support the achievement of program goals. Additionally, they collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical and research staff, to ensure that program objectives are met while maintaining alignment with broader university priorities. In this position, the Technical Supervisor plays a key role in managing the program's technical components by overseeing the work of STEM-focused teams. This includes setting clear goals for technical deliverables, ensuring adherence to project timelines, and facilitating problem-solving for any technical challenges that arise during the program lifecycle. They work closely with both technical staff and program managers to develop and refine program policies, ensuring that technical requirements and specifications are met while maintaining compliance with university guidelines. The supervisor also monitors the progress of technical tasks and ensures that milestones are reached on schedule, driving continuous improvement in technical processes. As a Level 1 supervisor, this position involves managing experienced administrative, technical, and operational staff. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating schedules, delegating tasks, and ensuring that their team is adequately trained and oriented to handle their responsibilities. They provide day-to-day oversight, offer guidance on technical and operational issues, and assess employee performance. The supervisor is also accountable for managing team performance, fostering a productive work environment, and implementing both short- and long-term goals to enhance the team's effectiveness. They contribute to administrative duties such as conducting performance evaluations, addressing disciplinary actions, and providing recommendations for hiring and terminations within the team.
