General Supervisor, Project Management

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The General Supervisor in Project Management plays a key role in overseeing the successful execution of short-term, goal-driven projects that support the university's administrative and strategic initiatives. Operating within the general administration function, this role supervises a team of administrative or technical staff involved in planning, coordinating, and implementing projects that improve university operations, services, or infrastructure. Typical projects may involve cross-departmental collaboration, requiring strong communication and workflow coordination to meet defined milestones and objectives. As a first-level manager, the General Supervisor is responsible for assigning tasks, managing schedules, and ensuring the timely and efficient completion of project-related activities by the team. The role includes day-to-day oversight of staff performance, supporting employee orientation and training, and contributing to team development. Additionally, the Supervisor conducts performance evaluations, provides guidance and feedback, and may participate in hiring, disciplinary actions, and other personnel matters. The focus is on facilitating team productivity and creating a structured environment that enables staff to meet project deliverables effectively. This position requires a proactive and organized leader with the ability to manage resources, remove obstacles, and support project success through strong operational execution. The General Supervisor collaborates with project managers, stakeholders, and other departments to ensure alignment with project goals and institutional standards. By supervising administrative project functions and fostering a cohesive team environment, the Supervisor helps deliver impactful results that support the university’s broader mission and operational excellence.
