Position Summary

The General Supervisor within Contracts and Licensing is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the contracts and licensing team, ensuring the efficient execution of legal and financial agreements in support of research programs at the university. This role involves supervising a team of administrative, technical, and operational staff, coordinating workflows, and ensuring that all contracts and licensing agreements are processed in a timely and compliant manner. The General Supervisor is tasked with setting clear goals for the team, monitoring progress, and ensuring that research initiatives are supported by well-managed contractual arrangements. In addition to supervising the team, the General Supervisor is responsible for the orientation, training, and professional development of team members. They ensure that staff members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively handle contracts and licensing agreements. The General Supervisor also plays a key role in providing ongoing guidance to the team, helping to resolve issues that may arise during the contract negotiation and execution process. Their leadership ensures that the team adheres to university policies, legal requirements, and industry standards while efficiently supporting the university’s research goals. As a supervisor, this position requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. The General Supervisor is accountable for the team’s overall performance and productivity, handling administrative tasks such as performance evaluations, staffing recommendations, and addressing any disciplinary actions when necessary. They work closely with higher-level management to align team efforts with the university’s strategic goals, particularly in facilitating research collaborations. The General Supervisor’s role is critical in ensuring the success of research initiatives by effectively managing the team and ensuring that all contracts and licensing agreements are handled with precision and professionalism.
