General Coordinator, Sub-Award Contracts

Sub-Award Contracts are awards provided by a pass-through entity to a sub-recipient for them to carry out part of a federal award received by the pass-through entity. A sub-award may be provided through any form of legal agreement, including an agreement that the pass-through entity considers a contract.

Position Summary

The General Coordinator for Sub-Award Contracts plays a crucial role in supporting the administration and management of sub-awards for research projects funded by federal or non-federal entities. This position involves coordinating the preparation, documentation, and tracking of sub-award contracts to ensure compliance with federal regulations and university policies. The coordinator works closely with principal investigators, department heads, and financial teams to ensure that sub-award agreements are appropriately executed, monitored, and reported according to the terms outlined in the main award. As an intermediate-level individual contributor, the General Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations related to sub-award contracts. Responsibilities include reviewing and organizing contract documents, facilitating communication between sub-recipients and the university, tracking deliverables, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and assisting with financial reporting and invoicing. The coordinator helps ensure that sub-award contracts meet the specifications of the overarching federal or non-federal grant and assists in resolving issues that arise during the contract lifecycle. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. The position requires a solid understanding of research administration, federal regulations related to sub-awards, and contract management practices. The General Coordinator must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and the capacity to manage complex details related to sub-award agreements. While the coordinator does not make independent decisions on complex issues, they play a vital role in ensuring the smooth processing and execution of sub-award contracts, contributing to the success of research initiatives and maintaining compliance with legal and funding requirements.
