Research identifies opportunities and provide institutional guidance for research programs to organize and focus strategic research efforts within and across traditional disciplinary boundaries to help researchers as they identify, pursue, capture, and deliver research programs.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 2
Executive: Has senior-level leadership responsibilities for major unit operations. Establishes and implements policies, procedures, programs, fiscal authority, and operational autonomy. Leads department heads, chairs, school directors, directors, senior managers, and managers. Scope of responsibility is university wide for an overall college or business unit.

Position Summary

The General Executive for Research holds a senior leadership position within the university, accountable for shaping the strategic direction and overall management of the university’s research efforts. This role plays a pivotal part in driving the university’s research agenda, ensuring that research initiatives are aligned with institutional goals, and supporting interdisciplinary collaboration across various academic and operational units. The Executive oversees the integration of research into the broader university strategy, leading efforts to secure funding, foster partnerships, and ensure the effective dissemination of research outcomes. As a senior executive, this position is responsible for setting policies, procedures, and long-term strategies that govern the university’s research programs. The General Executive leads a team of department heads, school directors, and senior managers across research departments, ensuring that operational goals are met efficiently and in line with the university’s broader objectives. This role also carries significant fiscal authority and operational autonomy, overseeing the budgetary allocations and resource management to support the research function. Additionally, the Executive ensures that all research activities comply with federal regulations, ethical standards, and university guidelines. The General Executive for Research is a key decision-maker in the university’s leadership, influencing the development and success of research programs at the highest level. This position requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in research administration, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives. The Executive works closely with university leadership and external stakeholders to advocate for research priorities, elevate the university’s research profile, and contribute to its overall academic and institutional growth.
