Examples of programs developed and administered include first year experience, learning centers, skills workshops, tutoring services, and other learning experiences.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

Position Summary

The Associate Academic Executive within Academic Affairs plays a critical leadership role in supporting the university’s academic mission by overseeing multiple programs and services that enhance students’ academic experiences. This executive-level position is responsible for managing the development and execution of academic support programs, such as first-year experience initiatives, learning centers, tutoring services, and skills workshops. The Associate Academic Executive ensures that these services are aligned with the university’s strategic goals, directly contributing to student success and retention by fostering a supportive academic environment. In this role, the Associate Academic Executive manages a diverse team of directors and managers responsible for the delivery of key academic services and resources across the institution. They ensure that each program within the academic services portfolio meets its objectives while maintaining high standards of quality and effectiveness. The Associate Executive also works closely with senior leadership to set strategic priorities, provide recommendations on academic policies, and drive initiatives that address both student needs and institutional goals. They oversee the implementation of these goals and ensure that they are operationalized across multiple units, managing budgets, staffing, and resources to ensure optimal outcomes. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Associate Academic Executive is accountable for the long-term success of the academic affairs functions under their purview. This includes monitoring the effectiveness of programs, identifying areas for improvement, and making strategic recommendations that enhance academic services across the university. By leveraging their expertise in academic administration and student services, the Associate Academic Executive ensures that the university remains at the forefront of providing a holistic and effective academic experience for all students.
